My entrepreneurial journey began in 2003 at Axxes, my father's family business, then barely 25 consultants strong. Officially I was in sales, but in practice I did a bit of everything: recruitment, finance, HR. From my father, I learnt the essence of sustainable growth: entrepreneurial spirit, trust, and the courage to take responsibility.
As CEO, my ambition grew too. Clients needed more than capacity, they needed expertise, and genuine specialists were hard to find. That search led me to Euricom, a strong group of software experts with a culture of their own. Just before my first meeting there, an employee asked me not to put branding on their company cars, just like Axxes. It confirmed what I already suspected: culture cannot be imposed from head office. You don't acquire a strong company only to strip it of its identity.
That conviction led to Tech Tribes: a federation of specialist technology companies that keep their entrepreneurial spirit and identity while pooling expertise. Euricom was followed by HCS Company and Kangaroot (platform engineering, open source, managed services), BDC (data engineering) and OpenValue (Java expertise, the Netherlands). Today, Tech Tribes brings together over 1,000 consultants across Belgium and the Netherlands in software, platform and data engineering.
Our real strength lies in the entrepreneurs around the table: different backgrounds, one ambition, pushing each other to grow faster. It's the organisational model of the future: local autonomy with the strength of a larger group. Specialist expertise without silos. Scale without bureaucracy.
